no sound

I just upgraded to Vista tonight, after OneCare nuked my XP install. Now I don't have any sound trying to use Skype - either in or out. My contact can't hear me, and I can't hear him. Does anyone know what's going on, or how I can fix this?

are the drivers installed? are they any exclamation points in the device manager? more info needed is skype the only program you get no sound on?

I just received Vista Beta 2 yesterday and installed it on the computer which I built earlier this year. The computer has a ASUS A8N-VM CSM Motherboard. Prior to installing Vista Beta 2, I had been running an Evaluation Copy of XP Professional x64. I like to listen to music while I am on the computer. I have not been able to get the sound to work since I installed Vista Beta 2. There are no indications of a problem when I checked the Control Panel. Any sugestions as how to get the sound to work would be appreciated. -- JIR

Find the XP drivers and install those... Thats what I did and everything works fine for my tabletpc...

My onboard sound works fine in XP. Vista played briefly at first, then went silent. It seems to be looikng for a more advanced sound system, just like my video

I can't get any sound from anything except the pc beep's and ding's. Someone told me it might be that my audio codec doesn't work with vista but I can't find any codecs for vista.

I have to main platinum asus a7v600x, and I am of use in xp soundmax. my problem in the fact that I can hear in xp wonderfully musik, only in vista hear I absolutely nichts.der treiber could not be probably installed because kompatibel.ich must not mention that I vista on mine second flat habe-also the both versionen run on rechner. what is able to, had to go, must I act with it I can hear somewhat from musik also in vista again??? entschuldigung for my bad English. I have installed Vista on Asus A7V600X MB and found that 'line input' jack outputs the windows sound. Not logical, but it works. As there are no Vista drivers I did not investigate reason or solution, just happy that sounds works.
