One thing I noticed is that I have picture but no sound when playing a movie DVD. When I play a music CD sound works normally. Someone advised me that this is because I need a codec for DVD sound. I then downloaded and installed a couple of free codecs, but that did not improve the situation.

The TV speakers work fine when using Tivo or the box, and the surround sound works fine with all components. It's just the sound from live TV. As far as I know, no changes were made to any settings. I've checked all settings several times. Obviously the TV only picks up basic cable channels 2-77 with this set-up.

I have tried the Win XP sound troubleshooter. I have seen the fix on that Kelly's site that shows how to make sure Windows sound service is "started", but it already was started.
